Henley Alumni Association Malaysia Annual Dinner 2022

Due to the ongoing and escalating Covid-19 pandemic, the HAAM Annual Dinner this year was cancelled. However, the HAAM Exco Committee felt that the association still should proceed with the online feature talk on the day fixed for the annual dinner (20th February 2022). The association invited Ms. Wong Pei Chuen: Senior Investment Specialist of HSBC Bank Malaysia, a member of the Wealth Team which supports the retail distribution of investment products and services of HSBC Premier Clients; and hold an MBA from Edith Cowan University, Australia to present a talk entitled “Current Investment Issues And How To Position Your Investment Portfolio In Year 2022”.

During the talk, Ms. Wong presented arguments to stay invested even during the current market condition and rising interest rate in US through historical data of the US and world market. She advocated to focus on the US Tech and pharmaceutical sectors if one is investing in the US market.

Professor Teck Yong Eng from Henley Business School Malaysia (HBSM) then shared his proposal to set up HAAM HBSM Chapter in Johor. The chapter will facilitate the recruitment of new HAAM members from amongst the HBSM graduates. HAAM, through its network of graduates, can also provide mentoring, internship opportunities, industrial input and also act as guest lecturers for existing students to help students understand current industrial trend. The idea was well received and HAAM’s President, Dato’ Yap proposed to bring the matter up to the HAAM Executive Committee and shall establish a task force to spearhead this worthy idea thereby ensuring sustainable operation of HAAM in the long run. The meeting ended at 8.30 pm.
