The Henley Alumni Association Malaysia (HAAM) Johor Chapter organized a round table talk/discussion session with students on the 23rd November 2022 at the campus in Johor. Mr. Edward Ng and Ms. Otelli Low organized the event with a lot of support from Professor Dr. Teck Yong Eng, Dr. Pisal Zainal, Mr. Rudy Kana and other staff. HAAM was represented by its Chairman, Dato’ Yap Kuak Fong and Mr. Simon Lee who went down to join the event all the way from Subang. Some twenty (20) students attended this event.
Mr. Edward Ng chaired and opened the session followed by short speeches from Professor Dr. Teck Yong Eng and Dato’ Yap. After all these formalities, students broke up into smaller groups and had a very lively discussion and chat with Dato’ Yap, Simon Lee, Edward Ng and Ms. Otelli Low separately over some light refreshments. Students bought up many questions regarding their future career plan, whether they should join small or big firms, how to plan for economic down-turn etc.. The students were so eager to talk to us that the session lasted all the way to 3 pm.
After the session, Professor Dr. Teck Yong Eng, Mr. Rudy Kana, Mr. Edward Ng, Ms. Otelli Low had a late lunch together with Dato’ Yap and Simon Lee and exchanged ideas as to how to encourage students to join HAAM. Dato’ Yap suggested recruiting students as non-subscription paying student members of the association.
We look forward to Professor Dr. Teck Yong Eng and Dr. Mohd-Pisal Zainal joining the next event; our annual dinner in Petaling Jaya in February next year. My sincere thanks for everyone who made this event a big success.
