Henley Alumni Association Malaysia (HAAM) finally managed to host a face-to-face Annual Dinner this year after a break of two (2) years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event took place on Saturday, 11th February 2023 at the Tropicana Golf & Country Club. Some twenty-nine (29) participants attended the event with VIPs all the way from University of Reading, Johor Bahru campus, among whom were Professor Teck Yong Eng, Dr. Pisal Zainal and Mr. Rudy Kana. We were also very encouraged to see some young participants such as Ms. Otelli Low, Mr. Avienash Vilet, Encik Sharulnizam & Ms. Jaclyn Yeo joining the event. I also need to make mention of Mr. Cheam Tat Inn who joined HAAM’s event for the first time.
After Dato’ Yap gave the welcoming speech for the event during the evening, Professor Teck Yong Eng shared his thoughts on the importance of close collaboration between the University and the Alumni. The feature talk of the night was given by Mr. Sherman Tam of iFAST Capital. Mr. Sherman Tam gave a very insightful talk on where and how investors should position their investments in 2023.
Participants were feasted to a sumptuous fusion meal consisting of Chinese and western dishes complete with nice dessert and free flow of beer sponsored very generously by our President, Dato’ Yap. A few participants also shared their thoughts during the evening. Among those who shared were Dr. Oh, Dr. Francis Lee, Mr. Cheam Tat Inn, Ms. Annie Ong & Mr. Avienash Vilet. The evening ended at around 10.30 pm.
