A delegation from Reading University UK, led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Robert Van De Noort, hosted a reception for the alumni of University of Reading & Henley Business School at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Some 120 alumni attended the reception and they were feasted to a sumptuous buffet dinner.
More than a dozen members of Henley Alumni Association – Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan (HAAM) attended the event and among them, our Chairman, Dato’ Yap and Dr. Francis Lee all the way from Alor Setar.
Professor Robert Van De Noort briefed and updated alumni on the latest development of the University of Reading, UK. Dr. See Lean Ong, a very prominent graduate of University of Reading in the early 1970s, was invited as the keynote speaker for the evening and he gave a very encouraging and passionate speech on what he had benefited most by attending University of Reading in the early 1970s. Although he is now retired, he has not stopped taking up new challenges and has continued to learn new things. Dr. Ong encouraged alumni not to stop learning and accepting new challenges even after retirement.
We, Dato’ Yap, Allen Cheong and I also had the opportunity to catch up with Professor Teck Yong Eng over beer after the event to catch up on the development for University of Reading Malaysia.
