University of Reading Malaysia & Henley Business School Graduation Ceremony 2026

The University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM) and Henley Business School (HBS) held their  2026  graduation  ceremony  on the 1st August 2026 at the Renaissance Hotel, Johor Bahru. In conjunction with the graduation ceremony this year, there was also a pre-convocation high tea event to award prizes to outstanding students on the afternoon of 31st July 2026 at the university campus. On the morning of 1st August, there was a special ceremony to confer a Honorary Doctorate to Her Majesty the Queen Raja Zarith Sofiah. After receiving the award, the queen addressed the congregation on the subject matters of mental health crisis facing children, education must go beyond academic to character building and the role of psychology. The solemn ceremony was conducted by the Provost of UoRM, Professor Dr. May Tan-Mullins and the award was presented to Her Majesty the  Queen   by  the  Chancellor Paul  Lindley  OBE  of   University  of  Reading  UK. Dato’ Yap Kuak Fong,  the  President of Henley Alumni Association Malaysia (HAAM), Mr. Allen Cheong, Mr. Derek Poon & Mr. Simon Lee represented HAAM and attended this happy occasion all the way from Subang. The attendees were treated to lunch at the Chinese Restaurant at Renaissance Hotel at 11.30 am before the afternoon session starting at 1.30pm to award well-earned scrolls to graduating students.

Year 2026 is a very special year for the University of Reading UK as the University celebrated its centenary and together with University of Reading Malaysia, which celebrated its 10 years anniversary, hosted a special dinner at the Four Points Hotel, JB to celebrate the occasion. Many high-ranking officers from UK such as the Chancellor, Paul Lindley OBE, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Robert Van de Noort CBE, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of University of Reading, Dr. Caroline Baylon and other academicians attended  the  dinner  all  the  way  from  UK.  Locally, the Provost of UoRM, Professor Dr. May Tan-Mullins, Dr. Joe Lo, Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship  and Deputy Head of Henley Business School and many academicians together with many alumni attended the dinner. Keynote speeches were given by inspiring alumni speakers including Dato’ Yap Kuak Fong, Datuk Benjamin Ong, the Chancellor, Vice-chancellor among others.

We; Dato’ Yap, Derek, Allen and I drove back to Petaling Jaya after the dinner and arrived safely home at around 2am after two wonderful days in JB.
